ANGELES CITY — Mayor Carmelo "Pogi" Lazatin Jr. and the Philippine Amusement Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) have ordered the shutdown of the Casino Filipino Angeles today, July 17, 2020, after three Angeles Casino workers tested positive for COVID-19.
The closure is necessary for the immediate contact tracing and disinfection protocol within the casino’s premises ordered by Mayor Lazatin to contain spread of the disease.
According to Dr. Verona Guevarra, Angeles city health officer-in-charge, the said patients are currently admitted in different hospitals.
All persons who had close contact with the patients were taken to the City College of Angeles (CCA) by the Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (ACDRRMO) personnel for mandatory quarantine and polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testing or swab testing, Lazatin said.
Lazatin is also appealing to his constituents to follow the safety regulations set by the city government.
He is also asking Angeleños to just stay at home and refrain from traveling to COVID-19 hit areas when not essential, since most of the COVID-19 patients recorded in the city had travel exposure in Metro Manila.
“Hindi po ito panahon ng pagpunta sa mga handaan o pagta-travel kung saan-saan. May COVID pa rin po. Kaya pakiusap po, sumunod tayo sa regulasyon ng pamahalaan para sa kaligtasan ng lahat,” Lazatin added.
At the time of writing, out of more than 170,000 households in the city, there are 42 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 11 active cases, 27 recoveries, and 4 deaths.
“Wearing of face mask is a must, and always observe social distancing when you’re outside of your homes for essential needs and work,” Lazatin urged.
