ANGELES CITY - The city government is set to repair six rural heath units (RHUs) and 28 sub-health centers here as Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. wants public health more accessible for Angeleños especially during the pandemic.
Lazatin said the city government will start the improvement of health facilities in RHU VI located in EPZA Barangay Pulung Cacutud.
“This is my commitment to my constituents to prioritize health programs in line with my city’s agenda of bringing public health services closer to the people,” Lazatin added.
“Pipilitin natin na maibigay lahat ang medikal na pangangailangan ng bawat Angeleño lalo na ngayon na kinakaharap natin ang laban sa COVID-19,” he said.
Lazatin’s Chief Adviser and Tactician Director IC Calaguas also said the city is aiming for the RHU VI to be upgraded to Level 1 when the repair of health facilities is complete.
“The repair to the other five RHUs, and 28 sub-health centers will follow suit. There will be an allocated budget for the repair of each health center,” Calaguas states.
Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel meanwhile said that dental chairs will also be installed in the RHUs.
“The city government has procured seven dental chairs for the six RHUs and the Puso Center. We are also encouraging our constituents to prioritize dental care since it is mostly a concern for indigent families due to bad oral hygiene and lack of proper dental care,” she urged.
Apart from this, Manuel added, Mayor Lazatin also ordered to revitalize the six RHUs by assuring medicines are readily available to Angeleños for free, and directed doctors of the city to stay in their respective assigned centers during their designated duty hours.
Free medicines are also available at the City Hall Dispensary Unit and anyone could also visit the Puso Center for health concerns from 8 AM to 7PM, Monday to Thursday, Manuel says.
It can be recalled that it was during the stint of Former Angeles City Mayor and 1st District Rep. Carmelo ‘Tarzan’ Lazatin’s when health services in the city became more affordable and accessible – a Dental Clinic inside the City Hall was established then, and medicines in health centers and Dispensary Clinic in the City Hall were made readily available.
