ANGELES CITY – A total of 2,246 City Hall frontliners working at the height of the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) already received their hazard pay last week upon the order of Mayor Carmelo ‘Pogi’ Lazatin, Jr.
He ordered the Local Finance Committee to release the hazard pay of frontliners immediately after the approval of the budget.
Lazatin appropriated a total of P37-million for the City Hall employees’ hazard pay.
It was approved by the City Council, led by Vice Mayor Ma. Vicenta Vega-Cabigting.
“This is a way for us to extend assistance to the families of the City Hall frontline workers in order for them to cope with this trying time because they have sacrificed much of their personal time to ensure the delivery of services to the public,” Lazatin said.
The release of hazard pay is in line with Administrative Order 26 issued by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, which states that “personnel who are already entitled to Hazard Pay, Hazardous Duty Pay, Hazard Allowance or other similar benefits under existing laws, issuances, rules and regulations, such as public health workers, public social workers, science and technology personnel and military and uniformed personnel, shall continue to be entitled to COVID-19 Hazard Pay, whichever is higher.”
Lazatin also ordered the City’s Local Finance Committee to release the Special Risk Allowance of employees involved in medical service.
