ANGELES CITY – Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. is set to launch a free online sports learning platform for all Angeleños on June 8, 2020 to cope with the current guidelines set by the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) on sporting activities under the "new normal."
Lazatin said the virtual sports training, which will be offered for free to everyone, targets those aged 21 below and senior citizens since they are the ones who are encouraged to stay at home amid the General Community Quarantine due to COVID-19 pandemic.
Lazatin’s Chief Adviser and Tactician Director IC Calaguas said the administration believes that engaging in sports contributes to improving an individual’s talents, skills and capabilities, but more so, their mental health.
“That is why the City Government, under the leadership of Mayor Lazatin, thru the Angeles City Sports Office (ACSO), is eager to provide an alternative platform for constituents to prioritize their health during this time, even at the comfort of their homes,” Calaguas said.
For her part, Maeve Mendiola, ACSO Officer-in-Charge, said that among the various modules and online tutorials on different sports to be offered are Taekwondo, Karatedo, Chess, and Fitness Dance or Aerobics, which mainly includes exercises, drills, and skills training.
Mendiola added that advisories regarding the free sports training will be posted thru the ACSO and City Information Office Facebook pages.
The link will be provided where anyone can browse to register for the free training, as well as the schedule for the online training in each sports activity, according to Mendiola.
It can be recalled that when Mayor Lazatin took office, he said that one of the core programs of his administration is to develop a comprehensive youth and sports development program for Angeles City.
