ANGELES CITY – Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. has earmarked P1.8 million financial assistance to 1,800 to poorest of the poor senior citizens here.
Each senior citizen will receive P1,000 cash assistance, according to Lazatin, apart from the cash assistance that will be provided to them under the national government’s P200 billion Social Amelioration Program (SAP) that is currently underway.
Lazatin earlier procured P10 million worth of Vitamin C supplements for poor senior citizens in the 33 barangays here.
Lazatin aims to visit some 25,000 senior citizens during the house-to-house distribution which will start on April 6.
Vitamin C will help boost the immune system of senior citizens according to Mayor Lazatin. Most of the high-risk victims of the new coronavirus or COVID-19 are the senior citizens with medical conditions.
The senior citizens in Angeles City regularly receive social pension, financial and medical assistance from the city government under the administration of Mayor Lazatin.
