ANGELES CITY — The City Government here resumes on April 4, 2020 the distribution of 20,705 emergency food packs to indigent households in its 33 barangays on April 4, 2020.
80 Public Utility Jeepneys (PUJs) were rented to deliver the food packs.
This is the second wave of food pack distribution in the city. A total of 50,000 relief goods was already given to 50,000 poor households last April 1 and 2, 2020. This brings the total food packs distributed to 70,705.
Mayor Carmelo ‘Pogi’ Lazatin Jr. said this is the second of the series of food pack distribution.
“Tuloy tuloy po ang pamimigay natin ng tulong,” Lazatin said.
PUJs that were hired for the City’s relief pack distribution are members of the Pangkalahatang Samahan ng mga Drayber sa Angeles City (PASADA). They also are part of the hardest hit sector of the society due to the suspension of public transportation.
“Sila po ang naisip nating makakatulong sa atin sa pag-dedeliver ng relief goods dahil hindi sila nakakapaghanapbuhay ngayong quarantine period, kaunting tulong din po sa kanila iyon,” he said.
Each food assistance contains 4 kilos of rice and 10 canned goods, which is good for a family of five persons for four days.
Lazatin’s Chief Adviser and Tactician Director IC Calaguas supervised the distribution together with Executive Assistant Reina Manuel, City Engineer Donato Dizon, City Social Welfare and Development Officer Joy Duaso, and other city employees in charge of repacking of food packs.
Lazatin ordered that an additional 100,000 food packs will be prepared for distribution in the coming days.
