ANGELES CITY – The city government has intensified its contact tracing program against COVID-19 by urging netizens to use the digital contact tracing application StaySafe.PH last August 3.
Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. said Angeleños may now start downloading and using the digital contact tracing application StaySafe.PH on their mobile phones, free of charge.
He held a presscon at the Angeles City Hall to officially launch StaySafe.Ph, with Multisyscorp’s Kirk Esconili, Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel, Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (ACDRRMO) Chief Rudy Simeon, City Health Officer Dr. Verona Guevarra, Rafael Lazatin Memorial Medical Center (RLMMC) Chief Dr. Froilan Canlas, and Executive Assistant V Raffy Angeles.
StaySafe.PH, the national contact tracing platform, was endorsed by the National Task Force (NTF) and the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) and currently being used by other Local Government Units (LGUs) in the Philippines.
To ensure the success of the digital contact tracing application’s implementation, Mayor Lazatin issued Executive Order No 17, Series of 2020, which requires Angeleños to download and use the StaySafe.PH application.
He then stressed the importance of users answering the questions found in the app, as truthfully as they can.
“Ang importante dito, sabihin lang natin yung totoo. Honesty is the most important thing in the app. If we don’t provide honest information, wala rin mangyayari,” he said.
Esconili, Multisyscorp representative, explained how the StaySafe.Ph application works. It can collate information on the users’ health condition, obtained through a 300-meter radius scan.
“After mag-download at mag-register, may mga questions na kailangan sagutin yung users regarding their current health condition. We also have the Protect Me function. Yan po yung mag-scan yung paligid, 300-meter radius po yan. Na-identify diyan sino may severe condition, sino mild condition,” he said.
“Kapag naupload ng Angeles City lahat ng positive cases, automatic nakikita agad ng user din yan. Magiging aware sila na yung area na pupuntahan nila, safe pa rin bang puntahan,” Esconili added.
Mayor Lazatin also ensures that information collected through the StaySafe.PH will remain safe and that the privacy of the city’s residents will be protected.
“Dinownload ko na kanina, ang kailangan lang is nickname at phone number para malaman saan ako nagpupunta, at kung sino yung mga nakasalamuha ko,” he added.
Once a user reports possible COVID-19 symptoms via the StaySafe.Ph application, the Angeles City Command Center will contact the user and follow-up on his or her conditions. Upon further analysis and recommendation of the City Health Office, the ACDRRMO will then take action, Lazatin said.
“Kapag identified na yung possible COVID-19 patients, upon the recommendation of the City Health Office and sa RLMMC, pupunta kaagad at mag-respond yung medic team naten para maitransport agad yung patients sa mga official quarantine facilities natin sa syudad,” ACDRRMO Officer-in-Charge Simeon said.
Furthermore, according to Dr. Canlas, RLMMC Chief, the StaySafe.PH application will also help in the city’s ongoing COVID-19 case management in hospitals.
“With this app, our database will be more updated. Sila na mismo mag-input. Kaya we will encourage every hospital facility in the city to use the app,” Dr. Canlas added.
