ANGELES CITY — Thirty one families and five registered business establishments affected by the fire in Barangay San Nicolas received their P10,000 assistance each from the city government on October 15, four days after Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. ordered the Local Finance Committee for its immediate release.
The total financial assistance released amounted to P360,000.
Lazatin’s Chief Adviser and Tactician Director IC Calaguas also said that the Business Permit and Licensing Division (BPLD) is set to assist the five registered business establishments for their fire insurance.
Nida Estacio, one of the fire victims, underscored the quick response of the city for their food and cash assistance, as well as the immediate visit of Mayor Lazatin when fire out was declared.
It can be recalled that as soon as fire out was declared on October 10, Mayor Lazatin quickly went to the area to inspect and to monitor the condition of the fire victims.
“Agaran po ang tulong na ibinigay para sa amin na makakatulong po sa pagbangon namin sa nangyaring ito,” Estacio said.
“Kinumusta rin po kami ni Mayor kaagad,” she added.
Another fire victim named Sarah Dacles Cader thanked the city government for the P10,000 financial assistance, as well as for the food packages, hygiene kits, and sleeping mats whIch were given a day after the fire.
“Maraming salamat po sa tulong ninyo,” Cader said.
Lazatin assured that while the city government is facing the COVID-19 pandemic, the city is ready to respond in other unexpected calamities and disasters.
“Bagamat kinakaharap po natin ang pandemyang COVID-19, makakaasa po kayo na nakahanda ang siyudad sa pagharap ng mga hindi inaasahang kalamidad at sakuna,” he reassured.
