ANGELES CITY – In order to help them transition efficiently to the new normal’ way of schooling, Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. will provide 2,997 tablets to public school teachers in the city.
The city government initially planned on distributing 55,000 tablets to Grades 4 to 12 students in 53 public schools only.
But recognizing the crucial role educators play to make ‘virtual learning’ a success, Mayor Lazatin decided to also donate tablets to 2,997 which they will use for their online clases.
The tablets for teachers will be distributed after the giving the 55,000 tablets to grades 4 to 12 students in public schools.
All in all the City Government is procuring 58,000 tablets.
“Mahalaga ang papel na gagampanan ng ating mga guro sa gaganaping mga online classes. Gusto nating mapagaan kahit paano ang kanilang trabaho kaya naman naisipan natin na bigyan din sila ng mga tablets na magagamit nila para sa kanilang pagtuturo,” Lazatin said.
Last Saturday, October 3, 2020, the city government began its distribution of the initial 2,017 tablets to five public schools in the city including Cutud Elementary School (359 tablets), Epza Resttlement Elementary School (859 tablets), Marisol Bliss Elementary School (493 tablets), Pulung Cacutud Elementary School (259 tablets), and Leoncia Elementary School (91 tablets).
Mayor Lazatin is urging other students and parents to be patient in waiting for the delivery of their tablets.
“Huwag po kayong mag-alala, basta po naka-enroll yung mga anak ninyo sa mga public schools ng siyudad at kasalukuyang nasa Grades 4 to 12, makakatanggap po sila ng kanya-kanya nilang tablet,” Lazatin assured.
The city government is also in the process of finalizing the agreement with local internet providers, in order to meet their objective of providing free and fast internet access for both students and teachers.
Mayor Lazatin has allocated P20 million for the installation of 772 satellite units in the city, to meet the demands of the free internet that will be provided for the teachers and students.
