ANGELES CITY — Barangay Margot candidate Shauntal-Ryne Claudio bested 21 other candidates in the Best Local Costume Parade of Beautés of Mutya Ning Angeles 2024, held on Oct. 5, 2024 at the SM City Clark Event Center.

Claudio, who took home P100,000 in cash, wore "Sibul," which means to sprout or blossom, as an inspiration from the vibrant streets of Barangay Margot, particularly Sampaguita Road, where the candidate grew up.

Sibul, a creation of Jhaymer Lui Ferrer, is a grandiose showcase of artistry and creativity of Angelenos in the flower industry intertwined in fashion and pageantry.

Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. congratulated the ladies in showcasing the city's unique identity and the spirit of Angeleños, which is mainly the aim of the parade.

“We are proudly highlighting the heart of our city’s barangays, presenting the best of their communities — from rich cultural heritage to notable local events and traditional livelihoods — through this vibrant local costume parade,” Lazatin said.

Further, following Claudio are the runners-up including Arielle Maritoni Cabatana of Barangay San Jose, with a cash prize of P50,000; Allyson Hetland of Barangay Pandan; Kate Sison of Barangay Sapalibutad, and Althea Gonzales of Barangay Sta. Teresita, who all received the cash prizes of P20,000 each.

Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel, one of the Chairpersons of the MNA Working Committee, commeneded the dedication and artistry of the designers, who contributed to showcasing the beauty of Angeles City.

Lazatin’s Chief Adviser IC Calaguas, also one of the MNA Committee Chairpersons, expressed her thanks to SM City Clark as a partner sponsor for this local costume parade hosted by the city government.

“We express our heartfelt gratitude to the support to one of the city’s priority projects of SM Clark, which gives joy, excitement, and indulging knowledge to our kababayans to the rich art, culture, and history of Angeles City,” Calaguas said.

The MNA coronation night is set on Nov. 28, 2024 at the Grand Palazzo Royale.
