ANGELES CITY -- The city government, led by Mayor Carmelo "Pogi" Lazatin, Jr., formally inaugurated the expansion of the Angeles City Public Memorial Park and Crematorium on September 5, 2024.
The city's public memorial park is now expanding to additional 2,748 niches.
This initiative aims to provide a dignified resting place for the deceased and ease the financial burden of indigent Angeleño families during times of grieving.
"This expansion allows us to honor and respect the deceased by providing them with a dignified resting place," Mayor Lazatin said.
Located in Sapalibutad, the city government upgraded its equipment including a crematorium machine and two scissor lifts.
When Mayor Lazatin took office in 2019, the public memorial park had only 600 niches.
Philip Samson, Office Head of the Public Cemetery and Crematorium, said, “Mas marami pa pong kababayan natin ang matutulungan dahil sa expansion po ng public memorial park na pinagawa ni Mayor Lazatin”.
In fact, Samson shared, the Angeles City Public Memorial Park and Crematorium is able to extend their services and other discounts to indigent families with applicable Persons with Disabilities and Senior Citizens.
For additional assistance, the city will also be providing free caskets and discounts in columbarium use for indigent residents.
Present during the inauguration are Vice Mayor Vicky Vega-Cabigting, members of the City Council, and some department head and officers-in-charge.
