Lazatin: Appointment of Calaguas in DOTr a 'win-win'

ANGELES - Mayor Carmelo "Pogi" Lazatin described as a "win-win" the appointment of kabalen Irish "IC” Calaguas as Assistant Secretary for Right of Way Acquisition for Rail and Road of the Department of Transportation (DOTr).

With the leadership of DOTr Secretary Vince Dizon, and with the help of Calaguas, the mayor said the Malolos-Clark railway will surely be completed by 2028.

“I am proud that we have two cabalens in DOTr, and even prouder that Calaguas is from Angeles City,” Lazatin said.

“I know how dedicated IC is. Panahon pa ng tatay ko alam ko na paano magtrabaho yan. Sigurado ako malaki maitutulong nya para matapos ang ating train,”

Another distinct advantage of Calaguas' appointment is her familiarity with the community.

"Babad siya sa community, bukod pa sa magaling siya sa strategy kaya siguradong mas mapapabilis ang right of way acquisition ng ating train na makikinabang naman ang ating mga kababayan," Lazatin said.

Earlier last week, Dizon said DOTr is fast-tracking the construction of North South Commuter Railway (NSCR) from Malolos to Clark to meet the target completion by 2028.

“Kapag ito ay nagawa magiging kalahating oras na lang ang biyahe mula Malolos hanggang Clark,” Dizon said.
