ANGELES CITY – The Angeles City Government has earned P233,500 in traffic fine violations in only 3 days, from January 27 to January 29, 2020.
This is in line with Mayor Carmelo ‘Pogi’ Lazatin Jr.'s initiative to intensify traffic management in the city.
Mayor Lazatin is reminding the public to abide by the traffic rules and regulations to ensure safety and order in the city.
“Rules are rules and we must always abide by them. It is my goal to continuously enforce strict traffic rules for the overall welfare of the city and its people,” said Lazatin.
According to the report of the Angeles City Traffic Development Office (ACTDO), a total of 1,664 motorists were fined for traffic violations.
Tricycle drivers had the most violations, totalling 745, within 3 days. Drivers of motorcycles came in second with a total of 738 violations.
Other forms of violations, according to the ACTDO, totalled 698, followed by ‘Outer Most Lane’ violations with a total of 484.
The other forms of violations include no helmet, obstruction, invalid registration, and CO#56 or the no mayor’s permit violation.
Traffic violations contributed the highest fines with a total of P207,400, while impounded motor vehicles followed at P26,100.
ACTDO's traffic violations report in October 2019 showed earnings of over P2.3 million in a span of only 3 months.
Mayor Lazatin further thanked the ACTDO personnel headed by Marko Bañola for their continuous enforcement of traffic rules and policies.
“We should always recognize the efforts and sacrifice of our traffic enforcers in maintaining and regulating our traffic situation. Rain or shine, they will be there to ease the traffic,” he said.
