ANGELES CITY – A 99-year old-senior citizen received door-to-door medical assistance from the local government unit here led by Mayor Carmelo ‘Pogi’ Lazatin, Jr.
Iluminada Santos, a resident of Barangay Mining here, was personally visited by a doctor from the Rafael Lazatin Memorial Medical Center (RLMMC) also known as Ospital Ning Angeles (ONA), in line with the Mayor's promise to prioritize the health and well-being of this vulnerable sector.
The City Government, thru Executive Asst. IV Reina Manuel, asked the Gender and Development (GAD) Office headed by Mina Cabiles to hand over fruit groceries to Santos.
“We need to assure that every citizen of our City is healthy and productive. Let us remind them that there is no hindrance for them to not be honored and recognized for their significant contribution in the City,” he said.
According to the Mayor, this is one way of fostering a closer relationship with the people as well as harboring sense of love to promote the peoples' overall welfare.
It can be recalled that when Lazatin was still a Councilor, he was already delivering medicines to his constituents. In fact, to date, for those who wish to visit the dispensary clinic in the City, medicines are always readily available.
“This is our efforts to strengthen our City's health programs. A better access to public health service is a must. Kapag walang may sakit, lahat ay may kakayahan para maging produktibo. Produktibo para sa mas progresibong pamayanan,” he added.
Furthermore, the Rural Health Units (RHUs) are regularly receiving their medicine supplies from the City Government.
Mayor Lazatin has prompted the doctors of the City to stay in their respective assigned centers during their designated duty hours.
“We are monitoring our RHUs to ensure that there will be no complaints that there are no medical staff in our centers. Kapag po trabaho, trabaho. Ibalik po natin ang magandang serbisyo sa tao, dahil po ang ating sweldo ay nanggagaling sa gobyerno. Ayoko pong makarinig na may mga kababayan akong nagkakasakit dahil walang doctor sa center na malapit sa kanila,” he shared.
Moreover, Lazatin, with the assistance of City Health Office (CHO), City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), Gender and Development (GAD) Office, Office for Senior Citizen Affairs, and City Information Office (CIO) staff, started the house-to-house visit of indigent senior citizens.
He has scheduled visitations to indigent senior citizens from 33 barangays here who are 95 to 99 years old to distribute cash gifts and medical assistance.
In his 2020 budget, the Mayor allotted P10 million for the social pension of elderly and Persons with Disabilities (PWDs).
