The Angeles City government traffic fine collection has reached P4,950,360 in July to December 2019, a 47.7% increase from the P3,351,530 collected during the same period in 2018.
This was borne out of Mayor Lazatin’s drive to enforce order and safety, as well as to decongest traffic in the city.
“The city government will not be lenient with traffic violations. Everyone is expected to follow the rules because this will not only ensure order, but also safety on the road,” said Lazatin.
Apprehension reports released by the Angeles City Traffic Development Office (ACTDO) show fine collections from traffic violations garnering the highest number of fines, both in 2018 and 2019.
The total amount collected for traffic violations was P4,619,660 in 2019, compared to P 2,667,800 in 2018.
This is followed by Impounded Motor Vehicles with a total fine of P277,500 in 2019, while a total of P625,030 was collected in 2018.
Lastly are the fines collected from Towed Motor Vehicles, with P53,200 in 2019, and P58,700 in 2018.
Among the traffic violations, truck ban came first in 2019, while obstruction came first in 2018. These are followed by obstruction, and no helmet or seatbelt, in 2019 and 2018 respectively.
Other forms of traffic violations are: no/invalid driver’s license, wearing of slippers, no uniform, and out of line among others.
For both 2018 and 2019, violations committed by motorcycles were the highest.
Lazatin is reminding the public to strictly follow traffic rules. According to him, the ACTDO will continuously enforce strict monitoring of traffic rules and management.
