ANGELES CITY- Academic and cultural competitions will be the highlight of the annual regional meet of the Association of Local Colleges and Universities- Region 3 (ALCU-R3) which will be hosted by the City College of Angeles on February 15-17, 2017.
Dubbed as “ALCUlturati: Nagkakaiba, Nagkakaisa”, the regional event is aimed at strengthening ties among local educational institutions through a line-up of events that will showcase students’ creativity and artistry.
According to CCA President, Dr. Richard Daenos, different colleges and universities in the region are invited to participate in the different activities prepared by the ALCU-R3.
“This is a welcome event in our city. Our hosting is a big deal as far as CCA is concerned for it shows the growing trust of ALCU- R3 even though we are one of the youngest colleges established in the region,” said Dr. Daenos.
The students’ talent and prowess will be highlighted in the different competitions.
On February 15, Vocal Competitions with solo, duet and choir categories, Poster-Making, Essay Writing in both English and Filipino are set to be held, 2:00pm to 5:00pm at the CCA campus simultaneously with the Photography Competition
at the Heritage District.
On the evening, young lads and lasses will showcase their wit and talents at the Mr. & Ms. ALCU-R3 pre-pageant night.
On February 16, competitions on English and Filipino Declamation, Extemporaneous and Oration speech will happen, 9:00am to 12 noon, simultaneously with a Quiz Bee, Hip-hop dance and Folk Dance Competition.
On the other hand, National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) former Vice Head of the National Committee on Dance, Peter de Vera, will facilitate a Lecture and Workshop on Kapampangan dance happening in the afternoon of the same day.
The new ALCU-R3 ambassadors and royalties are set to be crowned on the evening for the Mr. & Ms. ALCU R3 Grand Coronation Night at the CCA quadrangle.
To culminate the regional event, participants will get to experience “A Taste of Angeles City” through a Cultural Immersion at the Angeles City Heritage District happening on February 17, 9:00am to 12 noon.
