ANGELES CITY – Hundreds of job aspirants trooped to Robinsons’ Place Angeles for a day of career expo as the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) of this city held a job fair, Thursday, February 23 at Robinsons’ Place Angeles.
According to PESO Manager Maria Rosa Teodora Basilio, the jobs fair covers not only applicants in the city but the whole of Central Luzon.
“PESO Angeles’ primary mandate is to uplift the lives of the Angeleños through the lobbying of career opportunities. But what we have right now is a collaborative effort to bring employment opportunities closer, not only for our constituents here in the city, but also to job seekers in the whole of the region,” said PESO Manager Basilio.
A total of 748 job applicants attended the career expo in which 153 were hired on the spot by 17 participating local companies and seven overseas recruitment agencies.
Ferdinand Jose E. Herrera, of the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) Pampanga, said that the expo guarantees that “all agencies in the job fair are legal and free for illegal recruitment.”
Herrera further added that the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) created a special desk to lead overseas transactions and applications, and spearhead the discussion of safety issue for the employees.
To date, PESO- Angeles recorded a total of 2,342 hired applicants with the participation of more than 46 companies in two career fairs held last year.
The career expo was held in cooperation with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Department Of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) and POEA Pampanga.
The next PESO-ANGELES jobs fair will be held at the SM City Clark on May 1 in observance of the Labor Day.
