ANGELES CITY - A total of 451 graduates have marched the stage during the 2nd Commencement Exercises at the City College of Angeles (CCA), April 27 (Thursday).
Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan was elated to witness as the second batch of graduates of CCA walk center stage to finally get their diplomas.
“This is another milestone for CCA as we all watch our hardworking and talented students take a closer step in achieving their dreams and their aspirations,” Pamintuan said.
“The local government will surely continue its staunch commitment towards education and will continue helping the less fortunate to have an affordable and quality education,” the mayor added.
There were eight graduates awarded as Magna Cum Laude and three graduates awarded as Cum Laude.
Leading this year’s long list of academic achievers is Mutya ning Angeles 2015 Mirjan Hipolito who took up Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management.
Hipolito, who graduated Magna Cum Laude with a general weighted average of 1.36, is an academic scholar of the local government.
“I offer this achievement to God, to my family and of course, to the local government of Angeles especially to Mayor Pamintuan, who supported not only me but my whole CCA family,” Hipolito said.
“I hope I was able to make the city proud. Taxes paid by our people did not go to waste,” Hipolito added.
Meanwhile, City Council chairman for Education and author of the ordinance creating CCA, Councilor Edu Pamintuan, took to social media his elation over the said graduation rites.
“I am delighted to be an instrument of God in being part of the creation of the City College of Angeles. Quality Education for the less fortunate but deserving Angeleños! Congratulations to the second batch of graduates,” Councilor Pamintuan posted.
On the other hand, CCA Board of Trustees member Reghis Romero also imparted to the graduates some inspiring messages on what it takes to triumph and overcome the difficulties in life.
“Let us be living proofs that each Filipino who strives hard and does not allow poverty, calamities and see differences in other people be a hindrance in fulfilling our aspirations. We are all born to be achievers and we are destined to succeed. Stand proud and know that by heart, let us persist and persevere to do good and to excel,” Romero said.
The 451 students graduated from different courses offered by CCA namely, Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management, Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Bachelor of Science in Information System, Bachelor in Physical Education, and Bachelor in Technical Teacher Education.
The City College of Angeles was established in the year 2012. The institution is considered the only city-run tertiary institution in Angeles that offers quality education and hope to the underprivileged youth of the city.
