ANGELES CITY- The City College of Angeles (CCA) in partnership with the Confucius Institute at the University of the Philippines-Diliman (CI-UPD) recently opened the Tempo of China: Photo Exhibit and Confucius Institute Day in celebration of the Confucius Day and the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival, on October 2 at the Marquee Mall Activity Center.
According to Dr. Richard Daenos, CCA President, this activity aims to promote Chinese language and culture among the students of CCA.
“Culture is a manifestation where we can meet together, our thrust is that through culture we can share our best practices, we can share the best of what we have,” said Daenos.
Also known as the Moon Festival, the Mid-Autumn Festival is a celebration of the fruitful harvest of the Chinese people. It occurs around the same time as the birthday of Confucius which is traditionally celebrated on the 28th of September.
Different activities were organized for the said festival such as the back to back workshop on Traditional Colorful Chinese and Angeles Lantern which was held at CCA on September 28.
The GT Toyota Asian Cultural Center in UP Diliman, Quezon City and the Angeles City Library gave a Lecture on Traditional Chinese Medicine Integrating Body, Mind and Spirit on September 28 and 29.
Meanwhile, a Chinese Film Viewing featuring Confucius played by Chow Yun-Fat and Directed by Hu Mei and a Cultural Dance Exchange featuring CCA Performing Arts, Sinukwan Kapampangan and Xiamen University Performing Arts is scheduled on the 4th and 5th of
“This event is a meeting of two different nations and their culture that helps us understand and appreciate the arts and the people more,” Dr. Daenos added.
