ANGELES CITY- Lemuel Flores, a 4th year BS Information Systems student of the City College of Angeles has once again reaped another award after competing in the recent TORO Inter-School IT Elite Challenge held on January 30, 2018 at the Holy Angel University.
The TORO Inter-School IT Elite Challenge is an annual event organized and run by TORO Limited, a software company based in Hong Kong and with operations in Clark Freeport, Pampanga.
Flores represented CCA as a finalist in the Web Development Programming Competition under the Backend Category after entering the Top 10 during the qualifying round held last September 2017.
According to CCA President Dr. Richard Daenos, this is already the second time that CCA has joined the competition and that each school can send as many students in the qualifying round.
“The competition was a remarkable experience for the students especially when it comes to learning techniques,” said Daenos.
The CCA student emerged as 1st runner-up in the championship round where more than 45 schools (private and government-owned) from all over the Central Luzon participated. Flores is the only student from a local college to win the competition.
“It is a good exposure for the students as this can boost their experience in preparation for future employment opportunities,” Daenos added.
Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan extended his congratulations to the Angeleño lad for giving pride and recognition to the institution garnering a score with only two points difference from the champion school.
“The success of these promising students is the success of all Angeleños and I am truly proud of their continuous accomplishments exemplified by the awards they have been achieving for the past years,” said Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan.
“This proves that CCA is committed in delivering excellent quality education,” Pamintuan added.
