ANGELES CITY – Just before the start of the school year, the city’s reigning “Mutya ning Angeles” has laid out plans to distribute basic school materials to indigent pupils of a local elementary school.

It signaled the city’s 15-day countdown to the 115th Philippine Independence Day celebration on June 12. A brief commemorative program hosted by the Angeles City Tourism Office (ACTO) coincided Monday’s flag raising rites at the city hall grounds with performances from the Angeles City Rondalla and the Sinukwan Performing Arts. Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan enjoined all Angeleños to display the Philippine flag on their homes, businesses and government establishments, schools and other places in commemoration of the date when the flag was first unrolled after the Philippine Revolutionary Army overcame the Spanish conquerors in the Battle of Alapan in Cavite in 1898. ANGELES CITY – Local government officials and employees here started the week yesterday through the launch of the city’s National Flag Awareness Campaign.
