It signaled the city’s 15-day countdown to the 115th Philippine Independence Day celebration on June 12. A brief commemorative program hosted by the Angeles City Tourism Office (ACTO) coincided Monday’s flag raising rites at the city hall grounds with performances from the Angeles City Rondalla and the Sinukwan Performing Arts. Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan enjoined all Angeleños to display the Philippine flag on their homes, businesses and government establishments, schools and other places in commemoration of the date when the flag was first unrolled after the Philippine Revolutionary Army overcame the Spanish conquerors in the Battle of Alapan in Cavite in 1898.
